The purpose of the position is to:
To provide an efficient, effective and timely weeds control field service that meets statutory obligations within the programs of the weeds team.
To undertake weed control field operations to comply with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act 1993, Regulations, local laws and Council policies.
To be successful in the position you will need:
Knowledge of weed/vegetation control methods
General knowledge and understanding of the Noxious Weeds Act 1993
Class C Drivers Licence
Chemical Certificate Training (AQF 3)
First Aid Certificate
Experience in agriculture, weed or vegetation control field work, including the ability to recognise appropriate weather systems and conditions for weed control activities
General computer literacy
Sound literacy, numeracy and record keeping skills
Demonstrated ability to recognise a comprehensive range of weeds/locally native species
Ability to use high volume spray equipment and manual weed control equipment (e.g. brush hooks, whipper snippers, shovels, etc)
Ability to carry out minor repairs to work equipment (e.g. spray pumps, small engines)
Ability to assist with the development of, and ability to read and interpret, weed control plans/maps
A demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety requirements and Equal Employment Opportunity principles
Consultative manner and commitment to a team-based approach with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
